Jess:
- I'm not playing with boys any more.
Jess's Mum:
- Good! End of matter!
Jess:
- I'm joining a girls' team, they want me to play in proper matches. The coach said I could go far.
Jess's Mum:
- Go far? Go far to where? Jessie. We let you play all you wanted when you were young, huh?
- You've played enough.
Jess:
- That's not fair! He selected me!
Jess's Mum:
- He?! She said it was girls!
Jess:
- The coach, Joe.
Jess's Mum:
- See how she lies? I don't want you running around half naked in front of men, huh? Look
how dark you've become, playing in the sun!
Jess:
- But Mum, I'm really good!
shots
https://youtu.be/mqdAluSLB9o?si=b1aWqtFKhlqnzOxK&t=50 - Original video
https://youtu.be/xYr_ijoy8k0 - My version
I chose this film particularly as it showcases British Asian culture and stereotype females had to face within the south Asian culture. Filming the shots during night , I had to match the yellow scenery as if there was sunlight as the original was filmed during day time. Being both the characters Mum and Jess was hard to fit in one clip, therefore filming both in different shots and having a second person as the Dad help the difficulties of filming.
feedback -
class feedback (EBI) - was to edit my script in more depth
- add stage direction and setting
- correct the shot list in greater depth
Based on the EBI and WWW, i have been able to produce great production of bend it like Beckham as i followed the précised use of props , clear audio and tone of voice. However the common EBI was matching facial expressions and the theory part with the script and shot list. As my first time doing a task like this it was minor EBI as my video was great . I could be thinking about the editing of matching the ambiance tone of the living room to look day time as it was filmed during the night.
Film or TV show, it's easy to get caught up in the story and forget all the careful thought that went into every single shot. But that's exactly what makes mise-en-scene so powerful: it's the director's way of whispering important information to you without a single line of dialogue.
